Founded in 2015 by Matthieu Bourgeaux and Vincent Quesada thanks to crowdfunding, the TIPTOE brand promotes an eco-responsible approach and produces, in collaboration with designers, modular and sustainable furniture.
Coming from a family of metalworkers in the Chamonix valley (74), Matthieu Bourgeaux has always been passionate about design and interior architecture. He went to business school where he met Vincent Quesada. In 2015, after their studies and various professional experiences, Matthieu Bourgeaux and Vincent Quesada decided to join forces to launch their eco-responsible furniture brand. TIPTOE was born.
"We dreamed of sustainable furniture, which would have several lives alongside its owners", Matthieu Bourgeaux and Vincent Quesada, founders of TIPTOE.
TIPTOE defends an eco-responsible approach to design and claims to be Slow Design, a tendency to do less but better. “It's still little known, but the furniture sector is lagging behind in environmental awareness. We are therefore very proud to be 100% made in Europe and to try on our own scale to make things happen, by offering better thought out, better produced objects, and made to last a lifetime ”, explains Matthieu Bourgeaux. TIPTOE furniture - stools, chairs, tables, consoles and shelves - are therefore produced in Europe with sustainable materials according to a responsible production method. The Bourgeaux et fils family business manufactures metal parts, such as legs and brackets, in Haute-Savoie, while wood or recycled plastic items, such as seats and table tops, are produced in Europe.
Matthieu Bourgeaux and Vincent Quesada have always aimed to design neat, functional and simple furniture, while minimizing their environmental impact as much as possible. Presented at Paris Design Week 2020 (September 3-12) in their Parisian pop-up store, the SSDr chair - Simple, Solid, Durable, Recycled - is emblematic of the brand's approach. The seat and backrest in recycled polypropylene plastic are produced in Europe by companies that are committed to the environment. The five components that compose it are all replaceable and recyclable, and can be assembled in two minutes with just one screw.
Enthusiastic and committed, the founders of TIPTOE are moving the lines of the design world by engaging in the manufacture of ecological and sustainable furniture. Until October 28, TIPTOE furniture is on display in the brand's pop-up store.
