Waterform Design : Molecure Pharmacy

Designed by the Chinese studio Waterform Design, the Molecure pharmacy - a contraction of "molecule" and "cure" - tends to modify the image of the traditional apothecary by enrolling in a contemporary architectural environment.

If this project breaks with the traditional form of pharmacy, its interior is nonetheless endowed with multiple references to the world of health, the human body or simply to nature, from which comes a large part of the remedies. Spread over two levels connected by a copper spiral staircase - taking the form of a strand of DNA - the 120 square meters of this atypical place soothed by their purity and the massive presence of natural light diffused by the wide bay Entrance window.

The ground floor is marked by an imposing table composed of massive wooden beams resting on the stump of a centenary tree. Here, digital tablets, made available to healthcare professionals and their patients for easier monitoring, encounter lush vegetation. These pieces of furniture bind nature and technology, just like the medical industry. This combination is also found in pebble-lined cement wall coverings in front of steel and transparent glass displays - sometimes with colored supports. Ceilings also act as a snap to science as test tubes are hung from copper grids. This area, entirely dedicated to customers, combines autonomous distribution and consulting.

When the visitor reaches the upper level, he borrows a gangway suspended in copper, the surrounding soil and the guardrail are pierced with tiny triangles. In the center of this cavity, fine branches float in the air, recalling once again the importance of plants in medicine. The space is divided into two zones delimited by the excavation: stalls on the one hand; An office, a break room and apothecary storage rooms on the other hand. Here, the granite flooring of the ground floor is replaced by a solid parquet, more warm.

This realization revisits the codes of the dispensary and proves that design and health can make the pair, notably by the enhancement of plants in medical research and advances.
