Nendo : Into marble

More than ever, the nendo design studio takes center stage. And the new edition of Salone del Mobile in Milan can not make this statement lie. Its founder, Oki Sato, presents, until April 22, Into marble, a collection designed for Marsotto Edizioni specializing in marble furniture.

If marble has been popular in furniture and building for millennia, the imagination of architects and designers is flawless to reinvent the use of this mineral, which has gone through the ages, without ever going out of fashion.
The Japanese Oki Sato and the Italian brand Marsotto Edizioni combine their know-how in a collaboration on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, between the columns and arches of Bigli space, located in the center of this capital of design . Hand in hand, creator and manufacturer realize pieces with varied scales, ranging from the table to the object of decoration, such as the cup. Except that here marble, this "substance" with the appearance and reputation so robust, seems here to have partially changed state: from solid to liquid, with parts of furniture that seem to have melted like snow in the sun . We even see a shark fin protruding from a mineral "puddle". Stools and other pedestals then appear to falter, to bow. This rock so solid then becomes fragile.

Poetry and delicacy definitely seem to be the key words guiding the work of Oki Sato.
