Pseudonyme : Appartement L

Founded in July 2017, the young Parisian agency Pseudonyme proves that value does not wait for the number of years. After revaluing the facade of the famous Circus Hotel in Berlin (Germany), the architectural duo displays their taste for metallic textures and signs a unique place in the heart of the capital's 6th district, between private space, collector's apartment and gallery art. Focus on a studio that we haven't finished hearing about ...

The project is the result of an original order: that of an art lover wishing to combine private apartment and exhibition space in one and the same place. Located under the eaves of a Haussmannian building in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, the surface of 1 square meters was previously occupied by tertiary premises and decorated with false moldings and rosettes in a "typically Parisian" character exacerbated. An era that is now a thing of the past since, from the order of Mr. L., the agency Pseudonym - directed by Chloé Thomazo and Jeremy Germe -, imagines an amazing place of life, where art and routine become one .

If the traditional plan does not differ from the neighbors of the building (including indeed a living room, a kitchen, a bedroom and a laundry room), the apartment is imagined as a full support of the collection of its owner. Thus, many contemporary works are naturally part of a neutral canvas, a standardized museum space incorporating the codes of the white cube, with the difference that, far from being a place only dedicated to contemplation, the apartment is home to the daily Mr. L and can accommodate family and friends at various events. A border between fireplace and gallery that slowly fades, making live the many artifacts in the manner of workshops of yesteryear.

The false decorations of the false ceilings are destroyed, revealing the technical elements as well as a ceiling height of 8 meters. A raw appearance reinforced by the aesthetic choices made by the prime contractors: the surfaces are immaculate - never swearing with installations and exhibitions -, thanks to a white industrial paint and tiling of the same tone, while the furniture and the kitchen elements are made of stainless steel. Tables, benches or bookcases are mounted on casters, allowing the arrangement of the paintings and sculptures exhibited by the collector to be changed.

An achievement where neutrality rhymes with singularity.
