JCPCDR Architecture : Monceau

Make something new with old, successful bet for the JCPCDR architects office which rehabilitates an apartment of the roaring twenties close to the Parc Monceau in Paris (17ème arrondissement) to make a place of life bathed in light.

It is in an old building of 1930 years located on the heights of the Parc Monceau that nestles this apartment of character, rehabilitated by the Parisian firm JCPCDR Architecture. The old mezzanine obstructing the vast glass roof - overlooking an alleyway where galleries and artists' studios follow each other - has been carved at an angle, thus allowing for natural light. The decrepit walls give way to the brightness of the white and the transparency of the glass, thus lightening the space.

The old-fashioned staircase of yesterday is replaced by immaculate wooden steps giving access to the bedroom and the bathroom. The black marble is on the tiles of the walk-in shower and bath, but also in the kitchen, on the worktop and the dining table. A sober palette, enhanced by the pink velvet seating bringing a touch of softness.

Last, but not least, the succession of colored exposed beams extending the geometric lines of the bookshelves the library thus reinforcing the illusion of depth of the room.

When old character meets the elegance of modernity.
