Espace libre : Guitrancourt

The workshop Headroom landscape the central square of Guitrancourt, town 650 inhabitants in the Yvelines. Led by the landscape planner Maxime SAISSE, the agency created a homogeneous space where the church and the town hall, the pillars of local life, find their place.

Set in a steep plot, the central square consisted, until then, a multitude of disjointed spaces. The church square and the town hall and the park were a heterogeneous group with different functions needed to be clarified. The agency Free space was inspired by typography places to develop his project.

Between the road, the town hall and church, space is excavated and leveled, forming a generous space accessible from a staircase. This continues until the church square, in the interest of continuity. The accessibility of disabled people is in turn ensured by a gallery to the limited vertical drop along the town hall car park at the church. A parking space, a park and a playground complete the project and interpenetrating the ground by alternately coating and vegetation. All dresses in pale stone punctuated furniture hued ocher.
