For its second collection of flooring in "plank" format, the American company Milliken imagines Arctic Survey, a range aesthetically inspired by Arctic ice. We thus find organic patterns drawn in cold tones reminiscent of the special atmosphere of the ice cap.
More than just a flooring system, Arctic Survey is an invitation to travel. After having taken an interest in the American painting movement Colorfield Painting Last yearThis time, the firm was inspired by the stories of the Irish explorer Ernest Shackleton who, in 1901, is one of the first connoisseurs of the polar region. These studies inspire Milliken's design teams with relief patterns of varying depths, similar to traces in the snow, as well as compositions with ethereal tones blending opacity and translucency found on this expensive format at the heart of Milliken, the "board": a rectangular slab of 25 x 100 centimeters.
Made from tufted, looped and textured nylon yarns, and embellished with 90% recycled materials in the lower part, the bands come in three different sizes and compositions.
The first model, Isotherm, with linear appearance and vertical lines is reminiscent of the temperature points of weather maps. Thanks to a variation of its thickness and its geometrical aspect, the set with sober and discrete colors seems to be in relief. The reason forExpedition - the second series ofArctic Survey - is hatched and symbolizes the relationships between latitude and longitude; while the last declination, Shackleton, is a more literal interpretation of the ice and seems almost crack under our feet, so much the ornaments are realistic.
All boards can be supplied with the patented TractionBack® system improving both the strength of the product and the quality of indoor air. For the sake of sustainability, Arctic Survey is part of the brand's "Carpet Take Back" program, allowing used tiles to be returned for recycling.
What to take a breath of fresh air while keeping his feet warm.
