Since 2016, the community of municipalities of Sources du Lac d'Annecy (74), which brings together Chevaline, Val de chaise, Doussard, Giez, Lathuile, Saint-Ferréol and Faverges-Seythenex, has been organizing the Festival des cabanes aux sources du Lac d 'Annecy. In 2020, the jury awarded particular prizes to the project by Birce Birgen and Tom Nacach.
Open to architecture students and qualified architects, the Festival des cabanes aux sources du Lac d'Annecy is a competition which aims to promote the exceptional landscapes of Haute-Savoie, as well as the materiality of the elements that are part of the within the territory. For the fifth edition of the festival, two architecture students, Tom Nacach and Birce Birgen, have built a wooden hut.
“Here I belong to the water and the sky. I am just a set of features blurred with wooden lines in the landscape. " Tom Nacach and Birce Birgen, architecture students
Installed on the Marlens lake in Val de Chaise, the Atelier Volpe hut is a construction, made up of wooden slats arranged vertically and obliquely, which marks a break in the horizontal line of the lake. It is both an openwork structure that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature, a shelter open to the water, a refuge where to meditate and a fishing square.
With the desire to place their work in the landscape, the students designed a discreet and eco-responsible fishing square intended to educate locals and tourists about architecture, in addition to welcoming fishermen from the region.
